Stratco partnered HIA awards
The Housing Industry Association (HIA) recently hosted the 2023 HIA-CSR awards in May to celebrate the outstanding achievements of those within the industry. The event showcased some spectacular individuals, teams & designs, and we would like to congratulate all award winners. This year, we are proud to have partnered with HIA for two of these awards, namely the 2023 HIA Jim Brookes Australian Apprentice award & the 2023 HIA Australian Spec Home award. Let’s take a look at the award winners.
2023 HIA Jim Brookes Australian Apprentice award winner - Bethany Mercieca
The HIA Jim Brookes Australian Apprentice award recognises outstanding achievements of future tradespeople and assesses finalists based on their trade knowledge, quality building work and high-achieving results at trade school.
The award this year went to Bethany Mercieca, a carpenter working for Blue Eco Homes in New South Wales. Bethany received this award for numerous reasons. On the job, Bethany has established meaningful relationships with her co-workers through her exceptional communication skills, whilst delivering an enthusiastic work ethic. Additionally, her problem-solving skills are beyond the competency of an apprentice level. Outside of work, she has made a significant contribution in supporting youth who are deciding on a trade career by speaking at schools and is heavily involved in numerous industry committees. A massive congratulations to Bethany on her achievements and we look forward to watching your accomplishments in the future.
2023 HIA Australian Spec Home award winner – Averna Homes
The HIA Australian Spec Home award recognises excellence in the design of a home that isn’t built to a client’s brief, nor is it on display to the public as a repeatable housing design. It assesses the following criteria with a maximum number of points awardable to each criterion:
- Quality of workmanship – 50 points
- Design effectiveness including environmental sustainability – 20 points
- Innovation – 15 points
- Visual and market appeal – 15 points
Averna Homes from Western Australia took home the prize this year with a phenomenal build. This home redefined everyday living as we know it, emanating a luxurious lifestyle with a pleasant ambience. Averna sourced materials from all over the globe for this project, ensuring every detail was spot-on. The interior of the home is pieced together beautifully in this open plan design and features some gorgeous architectural elements, such as the larger bulkheads and recessed ceilings. Congratulations to the team at Averna Homes on your amazing project and well-deserved award!
