The Handi-Mate Wall Mount Shed is a smart storage solution when space is tight. Designed to mount off the wall rather than sit directly on the ground, it keeps your gear protected, elevated and neatly out of the way. Available in the HM1 and HM3 models, these sheds are ideal for courtyards, garages, under house eaves and compact outdoor areas.
This guide walks you through the full installation process, from unpacking to final anchoring and lock installation of the garden shed. While the HM1 and HM3 are slightly different in size and sheet configuration, the overall assembly method is the same.
If you’re comfortable using power tools and following step-by-step instructions, this is a very achievable DIY project.

Before You Begin
- Confirm All Components Are Supplied
Unpack the shed and check all components and fixings against the parts list in your model's installation guide. - Remove Protective Packaging
Remove all plastic wrapping from sheets and components to prevent scratching during assembly. - Prepare Your Workspace
Set up trestles or a work table to support sheets while assembling. Make sure the working area is flat and clear. - Understand The Model's Differences
- HM1 uses a single Corner Wall Sheet rather than a split wall configuration.
- HM3 includes both Corner Wall and Split Wall sheets.
Step 1: Assemble The Shed's Side Wall Sheets
- Lay the Right Side Wall Sheet flat on the trestles/work table.
Note that the top edge of the side wall sheets is cut at an angle. - Fit the Wall Channels over the sheet edges.
- Fasten through the third pilot hole at each end using 10x16 hex head screws into the wall sheet crests.
- Fit the Wall Mount Channel over the side wall sheet so the channel end aligns tightly against the wall channel.
- Secure with four coloured 10x16 hex head screws through the pilot holes.
- Flip the sheet over and fasten two additional coloured hex head screws into each end of the wall mount channel.
- Repeat the entire process for the Left Side Wall Sheet.
Step 2: Assemble The Front Wall Base And Sliding Rail
- Lay down the Corner Wall Sheet and Split Wall Sheet (HM3 only).
- Fit the Bottom Channel over the Corner Wall Sheet, ensuring the ends sit flush.
- Secure using one screw through the third pilot hole and three screws through every third crest.
- Fit the Sliding Rail over the wall sheet and repeat the fastening pattern.
- Install the Door Jamb into the bottom channel and sliding rail, and secure with two screws.
- Slide the second Door Jamb into place with the open end facing away from the sheets.
Step 3: Assemble Your Shed's Sliding Door
- Lay the Door Sheet and Split Door Sheet flat.
- Insert the Door Handle Mounts into the Vertical Door Channel and secure with wafer head screws.
- Fit the Door Wheels to the Top Door Channel using door nuts.
- Fit the Top Door Channel, Bottom Door Channel and Vertical Door Channels over the door sheets, ensuring all lips align correctly.
- Secure the corners using wafer head screws.
- Drill through the handle mount pilot holes using a 3.5mm drill bit and rivet into place.
- Flip the door assembly and repeat the rivet process on the opposite side.
- Drill the handle hole using a 12mm drill bit and remove any swarf.
- Secure additional fixings in the door channels and around the wheel assemblies
Step 4: Position And Fix The Side Walls To The Building
- Confirm the final shed location against the building wall.
- Position the Left Side Wall Assembly against the wall.
- Use a spirit level to ensure the wall is vertical and square. Mark the three mounting points.
- Drill 10mm holes using a masonry drill bit.
- Apply a bead of silicone to the Wall Mount Channel.
- Fix the wall to the building using three M10x47 masonry anchors.
- Install the Roof Mount Channel behind the wall assembly, ensuring it is level.
- Mark and drill three additional 10mm holes, apply silicone and secure using masonry anchors.
- Repeat this process for the Right Side Wall Assembly and fully tighten all anchors.
Step 5: Install The Front Wall Assembly
- Fit the Corner Wall Sheet over the left side wall sheet.
- Ensure the sheet is located inside the wall channels.
- Install the top and bottom corner brackets, securing them with hex head screws.
- Secure the sliding rail and door jambs using the remaining fixings.
- Fit the Gutter over the Sliding Rail and secure with wafer head screws.
- Fit the Runner Rail over the Bottom Channel, aligning with the corner bracket.
- Secure the runner rail using four hex head screws.
- Slide the Door into the Sliding Rail and Runner Rail.
- Install the Door Stop.
Step 6: Install The Roof Sheets And Barge Caps
- For HM1, two and a half roof sheets are supplied.
- Use a shifting spanner to turn up the pans at the roof mount end of the sheets.
- Fit the roof sheets into the Roof Mount Channel.
- Fasten screws with neo washers into every second crest and pan as specified.
- Ensure screws are placed on both sides of the sheet laps.
- Clean away any metal swarf.
- Fit the Front Barge Cap against the gutter with a 10mm clearance.
- Secure the Front Barge Cap using coloured hex head screws.
- Fit the Right and Left Barge Caps and secure.
Step 7: Install The Handle Locking Hardware
- Fasten the Door Handle to the Handle Mount.
- Fit the Locking Washer to the handle shaft.
- Install the Door Tongue and secure.
- Use the door tongue as a guide to position and fix the Door Latch to the Door Jamb.
- Install the Door Shroud on the Runner Rail.
Step 8: Final Anchoring And Squareness Checks
- Install coloured rivets at all wall and door sheet laps.
- Check wall squareness by measuring diagonals. Both measurements should match.
- Drill through the corner bracket holes into the concrete base.
- Secure corner brackets using M8x47 masonry anchors.
- Fit a Hold-down Lug to the Bottom Channel, away from the door opening, and secure it into the concrete.
This final anchoring ensures long-term stability and wind resistance. We recommend applying a waterproof silicone sealant where the shed meets the masonry wall, especially in high rainfall areas or for older, uneven masonry. In severe open environments, an additional wall-to-shed apron flashing could be ordered and installed to reduce the risk of water ingress.
Handi-Mate Wall Mount HM1 And HM3 Shed Notes
- HM1 uses a single Corner Wall Sheet and fewer roof sheets.
- HM3 includes Split Wall Sheets and a wider door opening.
