HowTo Assemble Your Stratco Saver Garden Shed

Building your new Stratco Saver Garden Shed is a rewarding weekend project - and with the right prep, a mate to help lift panels, and our step-by-step video, you’ll have it standing strong in no time. Below is an overview of the key stages you’ll see in the video so you know exactly what’s coming up and can follow along confidently.

Step 1: Assemble The Wall Panels

Start by laying out your wall sheets on a pair of trestles or a workbench. Ensure the sheet crests overlap correctly; the installation guide and component labels are your best resources here.

Fit a wall channel over the ends of the sheets, align everything neatly, and fix it off with the supplied hex-head screws. Once the sheet overlaps are riveted together and any metal swarf is wiped away, repeat the process for all four walls.

Step 2: Prepare The Front Wall And Door Opening

Lay out the left and right front wall sheets and attach the correct door jambs to each side. These are secured with rivets and will form the door frame.

Next, add a wall channel across the top of the front sheets and secure it to both jambs. With the front assembly ready, join it to the side walls using rivets at each corner. Fit the door shroud into the lower channel and lock it in place with wafer-head screws.

Before moving on, take a moment to check that the shed is square by measuring corner-to-corner.

Step 3: Build And Fit The Ridge Beam

Your roof structure starts by joining the ridge beams together. Measure and mark the screw locations as shown in the video, then fix the two beams into a single assembly.

Mark the centre of the top wall channel. This helps ensure your roof sheets sit evenly once installed.

Step 4: Install The Roof Sheets

Place two roof sheets on one side of the ridge beam, making sure the overlapping sheet faces into the prevailing wind. Secure the sheets to the ridge beam and wall channels with hex-head screws fitted with Neo washers for a weather-tight finish.

Repeat the process for the opposite side, then peel the protective plastic off the ridge cap and fix it along the top of the shed. Install the barge caps on both ends of the roof and rivet the centre join.

Wipe away any swarf as you go to protect the finish.

Step 5: Fit The Door

With the shed structure complete, it’s time to install the door.

Peel the protective film from the door assembly and mark the hinge locations. Fix the hinges to the door using rivets, then set the door in position against the jamb, leaving a 5mm gap at the top and bottom for smooth operation. Secure each hinge to the jamb, followed by the padbolt and latch.

Step 6: Anchor The Shed To The Slab

For safety and durability, the final step is securing the shed to your concrete slab or appropriate footings.

If you have prepared a concrete slab, position a hold-down lug at each anchor point and fix it to the frame. Drill through each lug into the footings using a masonry bit, then secure everything in place with the M8 masonry anchors provided.

This locks the shed firmly in place, ready for years of trouble-free use.
