Fundraise in the lead up to your National Patio Day celebration and support those impacted by cancer.
This year on Saturday 5 December celebrate National Patio Day with your family, friends and loved ones to help Cancer Council. Money raised through National Patio Day will fund life-saving research, prevention and support programs for all Australians impacted by cancer while also raising awareness about the importance of sun protection whenever the UV is 3 and above.
Now for the FUN part. Here are our ideas on HowTo have FUN FUNdraising this National Patio Day.
Host A Movie Night
A movie night would be the perfect way to bring your community together and raise funds at the same time. Play your favourite all-time movie with friends and family with an admission ticket price which can be donated to Cancer Council after the night commences.
Alternative Option
Stream the movie on Netflix Party so you can watch the movie together (virtually) and discuss your favourite parts in the chat feature. You won't need to tell anyone off for talking in your favourite parts either!
Run A Raffle On National Patio Day
Approach local businesses to request goods or vouchers as prizes then run the raffle at your celebration or workplace. Sell tickets for $2-$5 with an option of getting 10 tickets for a special price. The more you enter the more money you raise which can contribute to supporting those impacted by cancer.
Alternative Option
The raffle can be run online using a raffle website such as Raffle Link or Raffle Tix. Simply gather the prizes as suggested above, set up the raffle online and share the link with your community for all to enter. Set a date and time for the prizes to be drawn with a video call so all can enjoy!
Host A Trivia Night
This is a great excuse to bring people together, have some laughs and raise those all-important funds. You could suggest a themed night such as the 90's, Disney, Australian Sport or Best Australian Artists with prizes for best dressed. Ask all those that attend for a donation contributing as their entry ticket.
Alternative Option
Set up the Trivia Night using an online quiz website and invite your friends and family using the link provided. Set a time and date and watch the people you love come together.
OR play Bingo with friends from home using an app from the App Store such as Bingo! to play with friends from home. Ask for an entry fee to be donated to Cancer Council and organise a prize for the winner!
Neighbourhood Street Party
Bring your favourite dish and a donation for Cancer Council to your street party to support this year's National Patio Day. Catch up with old friends and create new ones all for a good cause.
Alternative Option
Cook your favourite home-cooked meal for the date and time set by yourself while eating together via a video call with family and friends. You may still watch your loved ones eat with their mouths open but at least you won't have to hear it so clearly.
