Stratco has launched its most ambitious campaign yet, featuring the Adelaide Youth Orchestras (AdYO) performing Richard Strauss’ iconic Also sprach Zarathustra inside a massive Stratco Big Shed on a Flinders Ranges farm.
Created alongside NATION Creative and production house Passel Media, the cinematic 15-second spot was filmed in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges and showcases over 45 young musicians aged 14 to 22. The TVC introduces the national "Stratco Big Sheds are Built for Big Things" campaign and premiered on Sunday, August 2, during the launch episode of The Block. It will roll out across Australian television and digital channels.
Nicholas Wheadon, Group Sales and Marketing Executive at Stratco Australia, praised the collaboration:
"Working with AdYO was a great experience. Seeing the skill and professionalism of the kids as they performed such an iconic music piece in one of our customer’s big sheds cemented the belief we had in the concept to convey that a Stratco Big Shed is built for big things. NATION understood exactly what we were trying to achieve, helping us create a campaign with a big idea that people will remember."
Adelaide Youth Orchestras' Executive Director, Nic Jeffries, highlighted the partnership's impact on youth arts and regional outreach:
"We are thrilled to partner with Stratco and grateful for their support of AdYO’s work. This new relationship enables us to continue creating outstanding opportunities for South Australia’s brightest young musicians, helping them develop their skills, confidence and passion for music. It also supports our important regional outreach programs, ensuring that young people and communities across South Australia can share in the transformative power of music. Together, we are helping to inspire the next generation of musicians and leaders."
Built around the idea that scale is best understood when it is felt, the commercial opens on a single timpanist at an oversized drum. As the camera slowly pulls back, it reveals the entire orchestra, dramatic staging lights, and sweeping beams—all housed within a Stratco Big Shed set against the iconic Flinders Ranges backdrop. Using the famous masterpiece popularized by Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, the ad conveys the impressive capacity of the Big Shed range without citing single dimensional figure.
Greg Faull, Project Director at NATION, noted the campaign's elevated approach:
"The result is the Stratco Big Sheds are Built for Big Things campaign, an idea that treats Stratco Big Sheds like a premium new product launch, elevating them with a sense of scale, quality and sophistication. A big shed needs a big introduction however, and people understand scale best when they feel it and not through mathematical measurements, but through contrast, escalation, and a moment that makes them think, 'Bloody hell, that’s big!' I also don’t think there’s been anything done like this since the Australian Girls Choir were in the Qantas ad. It’s so beautiful!"
