What You'll Need

Before you get started, gather the following:

  • A drill (or manual screwdriver)
  • Safety goggles
  • Safety gloves
  • Sunscreen and a wide-brim hat if working outdoors
  • An extra pair of hands (recommended for connecting the panels)

Step 1: Unpack and Check Your Components

Unpack the box and check that all components are present before you begin assembly. Key parts include:

  • 2 long side panels (2 m each)
  • 2 short side panels (1 m each)
  • 4 corner posts/profiles
  • Post caps (8 supplied total, 4 for the top, 4 for the bottom)
  • Screws and fixings

Step 2: Attach the Corner Profiles to the Long Panels

Take one of the long side panels and a corner profile. Note that the corner profile has two distinct finishes - the smooth side faces outward.

Offer the corner profile up to the end of the long panel at a slight angle, fitting it into the recessed channel. Bring the two pieces together and align the pre-drilled holes on the post with the pre-drilled holes on the panel.

Tip: It can be easier to lay the panel flat on the ground while securing the fixings - this frees up both hands and removes the need to balance the panel while drilling.

Secure with screws using your drill or screwdriver. Repeat this process to attach a corner profile to the opposite end of the same long panel, then complete the same steps for the second long panel. You should now have two long panels, each with a corner profile attached at both ends.

Step 3: Connect the Short Panels

This is where an extra pair of hands makes a real difference - the panels are quite heavy, and keeping everything aligned while connecting is much easier with help.

Take one short panel and offer its edge up to the recessed channel of one of the corner posts. Tilt the short panel at a slight angle to help guide it in, pop the bottom edge into place first, then gently ease the two pieces together until they sit flush and secure.

Repeat this for the remaining short panel to complete the four-sided frame.

Step 4: Apply the Post Caps

With the frame fully assembled, it's time to finish things off with the post caps.

Place a post cap over the top of each corner post, line up the holes, and secure with a screw. Repeat for all four corners.

The Twin Wall Garden Bed comes with 8 post caps in total, giving you the option to cap both the top and bottom of each post. Fitting caps on the underside is a smart move - it helps prevent insects, spiders, and other critters from setting up home inside the hollow posts.

Placement Tips For Your Garden Bed

The Twin Wall Garden Bed is best suited to a soft landscaped area - think soil, grass, or mulch. Because the bed has no base, water will drain directly through the bottom, which can cause staining on hard surfaces like decking or pavers. Choose your location before you start filling and planting.

Time to Plant In Your Twin Wall Garden Bed

With your Twin Wall Garden Bed assembled and in position, the fun part begins. The generous 2 m × 1 m footprint gives you room to get creative. Some great options include:

  • Fruit trees - dwarf varieties like nectarines or peaches work beautifully
  • Vegetables - leafy greens, kale, silverbeet, or rhubarb thrive in a raised bed environment
  • Herbs - a fragrant and practical addition to any garden
  • Flowers - add colour and attract pollinators to your backyard

A raised garden bed like this also makes it easier to control soil quality, reduce weeds, and keep your plants at a comfortable height for tending. It's a practical investment that will keep your family supplied with fresh produce all year round.
